ACCA Qualification

ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is a globally recognised accountancy qualification, which will help your career progress to the highest levels in accounting and finance in any organisation. 

In order to achieve ACCA membership, you will be required to pass 13 exams, an ethics module and complete three years relevant practical experience.  For more information about the practical experience requirements, visit the PER page on the ACCA website.

Qualification Structure

There are three levels in the ACCA exam syllabus: Skills, Fundamental and Professional.

Students who have passed their AAT Level 4 will be exempt from the Skills level papers .  Students with relevant degrees will be exempt from some of the papers.  Click to find out about exemptions. For more information about the qualification structure, please visit the ACCA website

ACCA Exams

The Skills exams (AB, MA & FA) and Corporate Law (CL) are on demand computerised based exams (CBEs) which can be sat at any time here at Vale FT.

The Fundamental exams (except Corporate Law) are sessional computer based exams and are sat at centres deisgnated by the ACCA in March, June, September and December exam sittings.  The exams are entered for via myACCA on the ACCA website and fees vary depending on when your entry is made.  For more information about entering for the exams and the exam fees, please visit the relevant section on the ACCA website.

How long does it take?

The ACCA qualification takes three years, sitting 4 exams a year on average and completing your practical experience requirement.

Oxford Brookes BSc Degree

The ACCA and Oxford Brookes University have worked together to develop a BSc (Hons) Degree in Applied Accounting, which is available exclusively to ACCA students who wish to obtain a degree while studying towards the ACCA Qualification.

There are lots of benefits to completing the degree, the main one being a degree and a professional accounting qualification are a powerful combination of qualifications to have, putting you in demand with employers and increasing your career prospects. To find our more, see the ACCA website.

Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business

ACCA has also introduced an Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business which will form part of the ACCA Qualification.  This Diploma will be awarded when students have completed, or are exempt from, the Fundamentals level exams of the ACCA Qualification.  Students will also need to complete the Professional Ethics module in order to receive certification for the award.
