A career switch to accountancy has paid off for student Georgia Marshall who achieved the highest mark worldwide in her latest ACCA exam after scoring 90 per cent in her Performance Management paper.
The 29-year-old, who originally worked in pharmaceutical market research, has been awarded a global prize in recognition of her outstanding work. Georgia, who works as a Financial Accountant at TripAdvisor, studied for a degree in neuroscience and was a pharmaceutical market research manager before deciding to re-train as an accountant.
She said: “I was thrilled to see the exam result. It’s given me a big confidence boost going forwards. It can be a challenge fitting studying around a full-time job, but I’ve had plenty of support from my tutors at Vale Financial Training, they really care about how you’re getting on, they’re there for you when you find something difficult, and they give you detailed feedback on areas to improve."
Director and Tutor Liz said: “We knew that Georgia would perform well in all the papers she has tackled so far, but we were ecstatic to hear that her hard work had paid off and that she was an ACCA global prize winner this sitting. Her exam result was outstanding. To be top in the world is truly remarkable!
