About the ACCA Qualification

In order to achieve ACCA membership, you will be required to pass 13 exams, an ethics module and complete three years relevant practical experience.  For more information about the practical experience requirements, visit the PER page on the ACCA website.

Qualification Structure

There are three levels in the ACCA exam syllabus:

  • Applied Knowledge,
  • Applied Skills and
  • Strategic Professional.

Students who have passed their AAT Professional Diploma will be exempt from the Applied Knowledge papers.  Students with relevant degrees will also be exempt from some of the Applied Skills papers.  Click to find out about exemptions. For more information about the qualification structure, please visit the ACCA website

ACCA Exams

The Applied Knowledge exams (AB, MA & FA) and Applied Skills exam Corporate and Business Law (LW) are on demand computerised based exams (CBEs) which can be sat at any time here at Vale FT.

The Applied Skills exams (except LW) are sessional computer based exams. The Strategic Professional exams are sessional paper based exams to be computerised in the future. Sessional CBEs are sat at centres deisgnated by the ACCA in March, June, September and December exam sittings.

How long does it take?

The ACCA qualification takes around three years, sitting 4 exams a year on average and completing your practical experience requirement.

Oxford Brookes BSc Degree

The ACCA and Oxford Brookes University have worked together to develop a BSc (Hons) Degree in Applied Accounting, which is available exclusively to ACCA students who wish to obtain a degree while studying towards the ACCA Qualification.

There are lots of benefits to completing the degree, the main one being a degree and a professional accounting qualification are a powerful combination of qualifications to have, putting you in demand with employers and increasing your career prospects. To find our more, see the ACCA website.

Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business

ACCA has also introduced an Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business.  This Diploma will be awarded when students have completed, or are exempt from, the Applied Skills level exams of the ACCA Qualification.  Students will also need to complete a Professional Ethics module in order to receive certification for the award.

Course Information

Each ACCA course comprises a teaching phase, followed by a revision phase culminating in a timed mock exam that is marked with detailed individual feedback.

  • The ACCA classroom courses will either be daytime courses, twilight courses, evening courses or a combination of evenings and weekends.
  • Our ACCA live online courses allows students to log in from home two evenings a week and enjoy interactive online tuition.
  • There is an ACCA home study package for the Applied Knowledge level papers that comprises a detailed study plan, a text book and exam kit, and most importantly access to tutor support.
